Jalen Moore anxious to play with Sam Merrill at Utah State

OGDEN — Sky View’s Jalen Moore is thankful he doesn’t have to play against Bountiful’s Sam Merrill again. The 6-foot-4 guard gave the Bobcats all they could handle in the 4A state semifinals — scoring from both inside and the perimeter for a game-high 35 points.

“He was amazing tonight, but that’s the type of player he is,” Moore complimented. “He’s a junior and he’ll definitely be back here next year, but after that he’ll be joining me at Utah State and I’m very excited to be his teammate. He’s a leader and he can really do it all.”

Moore will be an Aggie next season and has forged a good friendship with Merrill since he committed to coach Stew Morrill in the offseason. Both players led their respective teams in scoring this season and

“We’re great friends and we talk a lot about how great it’s going to be at Utah State and what we’re going to do up there,” Moore said. “I’ll text him right after this game and let him know how proud I am of his performance and we’ll talk. In a few years we’ll be performing together at a high level and yeah, I’m so excited for it and so is he.”
