Steve Hodson Cancer Classic raises $8,000

Canyon View principal Rick Nielsen recently informed us that Steve Hodson Cancer Classic basketball tournament in December raised $8,000. That money was donated to two Cedar City residents who are currently dealing with cancer.

“It (was) a huge success and makes a tremendous impact on those involved,” said Nielsen.

The Steve Hodson Cancer Classic is held over the Christmas break. In its first year it raised $2,000, last year it raised $4,000 and this year it raised $8,000.

The tournament is named after the late coach Steve Hodson, who coached at both Canyon View and Cedar City as well as Southern Utah University.

Teams who participated in the Steve Hodson Classic last December were: Canyon View, Grantsville, Cedar, Stansbury, Juab, Moapa Valley, Skyline, Dixie, Parowan and Sunrise Mountain, Nev.
