Lone Peak's Lewis checks on BYU-Hawaii job
Lone Peak basketball coach Quincy Lewis spent the past week in Hawaii in interviews for a job as an assistant basketball coach at BYU-Hawaii. However, he won’t know if the job is his until early July. Until he gets official word, he’s still the head coach at Lone Peak. Should Seasiders athletic director/basketball coach Ken Wagner pick Lewis for the opening – which is anticipated to be available when current BYU-Hawaii assistant Brandyn Akana moves over to work for Gib Arnold at Hawaii – there will be plenty of good candidates that will go after the Lone Peak job. Who might those be? Don’t be surprised if former coach Ryan Cuff throws his hat into the ring, along with Mountain View coach Jeff Gardner and former BYU star Marty Haws. If Lewis does leave, it might be the whose-who of basketball minds lining up at principal Chip Koop’s office. We’ll know more sometime next month, when Lewis knows more.
