All-star game set for Tuesday

The second annual Marshall Gates Foundation/Deseret News all-star baseball game is set for Tuesday night. Players will start the evening with batting practice at 4 p.m. A Home Run Derby is at 6 p.m. and the nine-inning game is at 7.

Once again, our selection committee picked 34 players to participate. We have a pretty cool spread in Tuesday’s paper announcing the teams. Buy a paper on Tuesday to see it because it really doesn’t translate all that well to the Web.

Tickets are $5 for the game and all proceeds go to the Marshall Gates Foundation. Come out and enjoy some good baseball. It isn’t often that you can see Mr. Baseball, the 5A MVP, 4A MVP and the 3A MVP compete on the same field. I won’t say who won those awards just yet, but I will give you the 34 players tonight as a surprise for the people who are surfing the ‘net on Memorial Day evening.
