First 2 all-stars named

We’ve decided to name our first two all-stars who will participate in the Marshall Gates Foundation/Deseret News all-star baseball game on May 26.

No, they aren’t players, but they used to be.

Juan Diego coach Steve Cramblitt and Cyprus coach Bob Fratto, along with their staffs, have agreed to coach the two teams this year. Cramblitt will coach the National team, while Fratto will direct the American team.

Cramblitt is arguably the best high school baseball coach in state history, as he led Taylorsville to seven state titles while he was there. He coached Juan Diego to a 2A title, and has the Soaring Eagle primed to win the 3A championship this year.

Fratto has made Cyprus a consistent state-title contender in his years there. The Pirates have come close to winning titles under Fratto, and they will be in the mix again this season.

I want to thank both of them and their coaching staffs for participating. I’m sure the 30 players who are selected to play in the game will be appreciative of their efforts as well.
