Alta vs. Timpview football set for Week 3

The match-up we’ve been waiting for is finally a reality. Alta football coach Les Hamilton confirmed that his Hawks and the Timpview T-Birds are officially scheduled to play a preseason game in Week 3 of the 2009 football season. The location of the game hasn’t been set, but Hamilton said he’s been in discussions with Rio Tinto Stadium personnel to play the game there on Saturday, Sept. 5.

It has the makings of a perfect football day. At 1 p.m. Utah State takes on Utah at Rice-Eccles Stadium, and the Alta-Timpview game, if it indeed ends up being played at Rio Tinto Stadium, would be played later that evening. For good measure, BYU plays Oklahoma that same day in Arlington, Texas, even though the time hasn’t been announced.
