2010 recruits already making campus visits

Your calendar and mine may show it is still only 2008. But in recruiting for girl’s soccer, 2010 is the year local colleges and universities are beginning to think about.

Just this past weekend, the University of Utah hosted a group of talented recruits on a campus visit. In attendance were Bountiful forward Felicia Sturgeon, Davis goalkeeper Jaime Wilkinson, Alta midfielder Alexa Pulley and Juan Diego forward Jennifer Flynn, as well as Lehi midfielders Harley Spier and Kyleigh Royall.

The Lady Utes already look to have a strong 2009 class — with verbal commitments from top instate seniors such as Bountiful forward Monica Okapal and Park City forward Hanna Terry.

This news item got me thinking about the 2010 recruiting class a little bit. Looking ahead to 2010, Alta forward Kealia Ohai is far and away the most sought after recruit and will be the one everyone talks about. Woods Cross also has a highly rated prospect in Kendra Pemberton,

One position group that has caught my attention is goalkeeper. Some of the state’s best keepers this season — Wilkinson, Lehi’s Briar Sands, Lone Peak’s Ravin King and Springville’s Sadie Clements — are all in that class. All have been difference makers on their respective teams this season and I would think all could end up being highly sought after by instate schools.

I’ll keep you updated on more girl’s soccer recruiting news as it comes my way.
