Pine View's Evans tears ACL

Pine View wide receiver Robert Evans, a 4A first-teamer as a junior last year, tore his right ACL in practice last week and is out for the season. Robert’s father Dan said it was a contact injury and occurred after Evans caught the ball during a passing drill and planted to turn upfield. Evans was expected to have a huge season for the Panthers, who are ranked third in 4A in the preseason rankings.

Dan Evans said his son is scheduled to have surgery in 1-2 weeks. Following eight months of rehab he’ll head out on an LDS Church mission later next summer. Upon return, he’ll walk on at BYU to try and earn a scholarship.

How devastating is this injury to Pine View’s chances of contending for the 4A state championship?
