Evans, Pine View, on the rise

The Class of 2009 is shaping up to be a strong group with players such as Cottonwood’s John Martinez and Timpview’s Xavier Sua’Filo leading the way.
One player who shouldn’t be overlooked is Pine View receiver Robert Evans.
He made a name for himself last year, as he was a key contributor for the Panthers’ 4A runner-up team. He had 61 receptions for 1,157 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Evans is already building toward a solid encore. He was named the MVP of UNLV’s passing tournament last week, as he had 36 catches, 22 of which were touchdowns, in just six games.
Programs such as BYU, Utah, Colorado, South Carolina and Rutgers have shown interest in Evans. He looks like a strong college prospect, as he has the size and speed to excel at the next level.
Evans figures to be the top weapon for Pine View this season. Apparently, there are some solid players to complement him. The Panthers won the UNLV passing tournament last weekend and defeated a familiar foe in the championship game. It was Pine View’s junior varsity team.
