Winning through the losers' bracket
In looking at the 16 softball teams and 16 baseball teams with one loss that will play today and Tuesday in the state 4A and 5A softball and baseball tournaments, it’s hard to imagine that one of them is capable of winning all the games necessary to win a state title.
A team with one loss would need to win seven straight games from here on out. Winning one or two state tournament games is tough enough, yet alone seven straight. Plus they’d twice have to win two games in one day.
Is there any team out there with enough pitching depth, enough defense, enough offense and enough energy to get this done? It has happened before, but it’s rare.
What teams do you think are capable of accomplishing this towering task?
