Six classifications for football?

An interesting proposal was made by Rich High officials at the realignment hearings last week, and I’d like to know what our readers think about it.
School officials proposed adding a football-only sixth classification to the state’s current setup. A couple of other states have made an extra class just for football. Rich officials said they got the idea from Wyoming.
I see some pros and cons. It does mean fewer teams in the larger classifications, and in some people’s minds would cheapen the value of winning a state title. Under the Rich plan, the 5A and 6A classifications would feature 19 teams apiece. Are those enough teams to comprise the large-school classifications?
It does seem reasonable though. It’s tough for a school with 1,500 students to compete with the Altas and Binghams in the state. Why not put the largest of the large schools in their own class?
Rich used last year’s enrollment numbers, and not projections, when presenting this proposal. Here’s a look at Rich’s plan:
