Who are the best baseball players around the state?
As I was slowly going numb on all my exposed skin watching a ‘spring’ baseball game (seriously, I think the wind-chill temperature was like 3) I realized that I don’t know nearly enough about some of the talent that is out there this season. I watched Judge’s one-two combo on the mound of Joe Pond, a University of Utah signee, and AJ Carman, who is only a junior but will have a ton of schools vying for his services. I saw Cyprus’ Taylor Jones, who is also only a junior but has tremendous upside being a big, strong hard-throwing lefty. But I don’t know enough about what has the scouts drooling this year.
Who are the best pitchers out there? And how about some good position players? I know that Brett Lopez of Timpanogos has got to be one of the best hitters, and Cottonwood’s Kendall Meyer, though also only a junior, has some buzz generated about him. But with the responsibility of trying to inform all of our readers of what is going on in prep baseball around the state. I could really use some info on some of the other top players that I need to keep an eye out for as the season progresses. What are your thoughts? Thanks.
