Region basketball is notorious for upsets

You’ve got to love region play in boys basketball. Upsets aren’t an anomaly they’re expected. Predicting exactly who pulls them off each night is a different matter. On Friday night, who would’ve predicted Rowland Hall beating North Summit, Skyline beating Alta, Spanish Fork leading P.G. by 17 in the second half ‘ only to squander it and lose at the buzzer on a tip in ‘ or Olympus blowing out Cottonwood by 15?

If history is any indicator, expect more upsets this upcoming Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, not to mention the week after that, and the week after that.

Here are my upset watches for next week. But what do our readers think?

Davis at Viewmont (Friday): Vikings are playing very well as of late, and will be gunning for 5A’s lone unbeaten.
Lone Peak at Spanish Fork (Wednesday): Dons nearly upset P.G. last night.
Mountain Crest at Woods Cross (Tuesday): The Mustangs are an up-and-down team, but if they get hot they could be a dangerous foe.
Pine View at Canyon View (Wednesday): Pine View is one of the best in 4A, but it can’t look past the upstart Falcons.
Ogden at Bear River (Friday): The Tigers are coming off an impressive win over Logan, and gunning for the Region 11 front runner.
